Wembley Tribute for Taylor

The loss of Taylor Hawkins earlier this year at the age of just 50, is still reverberating around the musical world, but his family and the Foo Fighters have now confirmed more details of the two tribute concerts they will be holding for him in September.

One of them is here in England, at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday 3rd September, with pre-sale tickets going live at 9am tomorrow (16th) and if anything is left, the rest go on sale on Friday.

The line-up is already looking stellar, with more names to come, but that should perhaps come as no surprise, given the love and respect that emanated from his fellow musicians when the news was announced.

As well as his former bandmates, names already enlisted include, Brian May and Roger Taylor from Queen (he used to regularly sing Under Pressure in Foo Fighters concerts), Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson from Rush, Liam Gallagher, Joshua Homme, Mark Ronson, Chrissie Hynde, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Supergrass and Wolfgang Van Halen (son of Eddie). Comedian, Dave Chappelle, is down as a special guest and there will also be an appearance from Hawkins old covers band, Chevy Metal.

That will be followed later in the month (27th) by another show at the Kia Forum in LA, with another raft of star names, including Brian May again, Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett and Alanis Morissette.

Hawkins wife Alison released a statement that thanked fans for their support; "Taylor's endearing spirit and deep love of music will live on forever through the collaborations he so enjoyed, and the catalog of songs he contributed to and created. In celebration of his life, it is now up to all of us who loved him most to honor Taylor's legacy and the music he gave us."
