Julian Lennon has released a cover version of Imagine, one of his fathers most famous songs.
He had played it at a global fundraising broadcast in Warsaw, Poland, back in April - Stand Up For Ukraine. It was the first time he had ever sang that song in public, saying, "The song reflects the light at the end of the tunnel, that we are all hoping for."
Part of the proceeds from sales of the song will go to Global Citizen, via Lennon's own The White Feather Foundation, where it will be used to fund ongoing refugee relief work in Ukraine.
Lennon had previously said he would only ever sing Imagine if it was 'the end of the world.' But now he said, "The war on Ukraine is an unimaginable tragedy. As a human, and as an artist, I felt compelled to respond in the most significant way I could. Within this song, we're transported to a space, where love and togetherness become our reality, if but for a moment in time"
Check out the video below, with Julian performing the song with Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) on guitar. I'm not entirely sure why so many candles were needed, but as you would expect, his voice carries eerie echoes of his father.
